Now for the Facts:
The Dha'vol are a strong tribe among the trollocs. One of the three
currently in power. The name of the tribe, Dha’vol, comes from the name
of a highly powerful, mythical creature, the devil. And they have also
adapted some very devilish ways into the tribe. They are often cruel,
unmerciful and evil (even in trolloc standards). The clan is built of
very mixed guilds and supports the thieves that other clans might eye
suspicously. Of all clans they are the ones most apt at scouting and
are often skilled at both finding things and hiding.
The History of the Dha'vol
The Dha’vol was the first tribe established among the trollocs. It happened
when the trollocs grew in numbers and many were looking for safty and
union in the hard life as warriors of the Great Lord. So some of the
trollocs gathered into a group and started working together. Led by
fade masters, they soon became the rulers of the non-aligned trollocs
around, as they were organized and powerful. They started calling
themselves Dha’vol, after the mythical devil, and started doing devilish
rituals, sacraficing humans and other lesser trollocs to the Great Lord.
As the other trollocs noticed the power of the Dha’vol, most of them
tried to join in, but now that the Dha’vol had power, they did not want
to share it with everyone else, they wanted to keep it. Being mostly
trollocs of bird descent, they decided that they would take members only
of those who were also birds and powerful trollocs of other descent.
Some other trollocs started building other tribes and many were created.
The Dha’vol still remained the ruling one, as they were most numerous.
They also had done the most scouting and raiding for the Great Lord so
far, and thus remained in favour. The Dha’vol also started spying on
the other tribes and so they knew most things the other tribes knew,
furthering their own power. This continued, but soon, as the other tribes
also grew in number, the power of the Dha’vol started dwindling. At the
moment the Dha’vol is still considered “the tribe most favoured by the
Great Lord” and sometimes gets very important missions, but there are
many other tribes of equal strength, like the Dhai’mon, who even though
small in numbers, are all elite warriors of the Great Lord. There are
also the Ko’bal, which is now the tribe with the most members. Dha’vol
often consider themselves above other tribes because of this background,
but it weigths little, the other greater tribes do not care much of this.
The Dha’vol still dominate and manipulate some of the lesser trolloc
tribes, which is a merit the other greater tribes do not have. It aids
the Dha’vol greatly in their spying and also in the gathering of legions,
should a large invasion force be needed.
Appearance
The Dha'vol consist mostly of trollocs descending from birds and human
brutes, making most of them beaked, clawed and otherwise very
boney. To honor the devil, they tend to choose new members of those
with horns. All Dha’vol get to wear a special shirt of mixed chain and
plate mail, completely black, with a large shoulderplate on the
right shoulder and embeded into it the tribal symbol, a horned skull,
shining clearly from the otherwise dull black armor.
Skills
Because of their bird hertige they often have sharp senses,
especially of sight (notice) and some are because of this also good at
finding things hidden (search). Many also like to use the shadows to
their aid and both hide and sneak (also camouflage), which aids them
greatly in their scouting.
In the way of weapons they generally favour edged weapons, with the
axes being the most popular, but also swords of medium and long length
can be found. Some members of the Dha'vol also use the short blades,
as thieves can be found within their ranks.
Habits and Rites
When they charge, the Dha'vol often make their cawing shrieks, to
frighten their enemies and to communicate with eachother, without
the other tribes finding out their secrets...of all tribes the Dha'vol
might be the most secretive.
Joining
What a trolloc, hoping to join the Dha’vol, should do, is first to find
a member of the tribe, who is willing to teach him of their ways.
Henseforth, the Dha’vol is known to the pupil as taskmaster and the
pupil is called taskdoer by all Dha’vol. The members of the tribe, but
mainly the taskmaster, may now tell the taskdoer to do all kinds of
tasks, to test his abilities and obedience.
Example of this in the MUD:
‘go get me some beef, boy !’
‘yea, will be done, taskmaster’
‘and, hey, buy me a bucket ful’o blood too, while yer at it...’
*nod*
Joining the Dha'vol is not too hard for the taskdoer, requiring only a
slight test of strenght, as the defeat of a minor human (say, lvl 15+
or something), scouting in a raid, discovering a secret the tribe does
not know yet, or showing own initiative to do something more radical.
The taskmaster also needs to stand for his taskdoer and tell the master
that the taskdoer is ready to take the big step.
